Dallas is the 9th largest city in the United States. It is home to 18 Fortune 500 companies and 23 of the wealthiest Americans. The city is an international hub for banking, commerce, telecommunications, computer technology, energy, healthcare and medical research, and transportation and logistics, with the DFW International airport being the fourth busiest in the world.

Dallas is a major hub for many professional sports. From the Dallas Mavericks to the Dallas Cowboys to the Texas Rangers, Dallas has powerhouse sports teams that compete With top sports teams and unrivaled facilities, Dallas is the ultimate sports destination. It is home to the Dallas Cowboys (NFL), Dallas Stars (NHL), Dallas Mavericks (NBA), FC Dallas (MLS) and the Texas Rangers (MLB). In 2011, Dallas became the only city to have hosted a World Series game, an NBA Finals game and the Super Bowl in the same year.

The Dallas Arts District is the largest contiguous urban arts district in the United States. Notable venues in the district include the Dallas Museum of Art, the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center home to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Dallas Wind Symphony, The Trammell & Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art, and the Nasher Sculpture Center.

Other major attractions in Dallas include: AT&T Stadium, Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Gardens, Klyde Warren Park, Perot Museum of Nature and Science, The Sixth Floor Museum and Dealey Plaza and Fort Worth Zoo.

Ismaili community of the Central U.S. is actively involved in the broader community we live in. Our Jamat volunteers at Hunger Busters in Dallas, TX once a month. The youths make approximately 1400 sandwiches and pack meal boxes for students in the Dallas Independent School District that don’t receive the third meal of the day. In addition, the youths have been serving at Hunger Busters for the past four years and continue to directly impact the residents of the Dallas community. Furthermore, every week in the summer and winter breaks the Central U.S. Jamat volunteers at the Breakfast at the Cathedral of Hope where we serve breakfast to the homeless. The youth have interacted with the families that come to the kitchen and have understood how privileged they are. Lastly, the Ismaili Youth Choir have performed at the various events at the Dallas Museum of Art and at the Crow Collection of Art.

The Central U.S, iCERV volunteers continue to volunteer at other outreach events such as Turkey Trot, Corinthians Seniors Center, North Texas Food Bank, Children’s Medical Center, Day Resource Center and many more. Furthermore, Eagle Scouts and Gold Award projects impact the Carrollton, Plano, Colleyville, Bedford, Coppell and Euless districts. Through i-CERV and Scouts, the Jamat have served over 5,734 hours in 2014-2015 year for the benefit of the cities we reside in.
