Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum
Texas is a big place with a very diverse and colorful history. This museum provides you with numerous interactive opportunities to experience the story of Texas. The museum, located a few blocks north of the Texas State Capitol at 1800 North Congress Avenue, is dedicated to interpreting the continually unfolding “Story of Texas” to the broadest possible audience through meaningful educational experiences.
Starting just South of 11th Street & The Texas State Capitol, Congress Avenue is the main thoroughfare through downtown Austin. There are numerous restaurants, museums, local businesses scattered along this scenic street.
Known for its prominence in the hill country, Austin delivers best with this location within the city limits. This is one of Austin’s oldest tourist attractions & worth the hike up the stairs for the view.
Texas State Capitol
The home of Texas politics and holding the distinction of being the largest state capitol in the United States. Free to the public and worth the short jaunt from the conference center, including a visit to the Texas State Library & Archives Building.
Tour the Historic UT Tower
The observation deck of the UT Tower offers a spectacular view of the UT Campus and the Austin area in all directions. Tours are conducted on weekends and selected evenings during the summer only. Tour hours correspond to daylight savings time so sunset tours can be offered. Observation deck tours are available by reservation only through the Texas Union Information Center.
